Wood Carving
The history of wood carving in Japan dates back to the ancient, far away Asuka period. Many Buddhist images were carved in the Heian Period by Buddhist influence, and the architectural sculpture which were given to shrines and temples in the middle ages developed rapidly. And gradually, various decorative sculptures started were done for dignity in furnishings and personal appearance.
