Bamboo Fishing Rods
Edo Wazao was a "Tsugi Sao [ jointed fishing rod ]" using a natural bamboo, and it was made in the mid Edo Period. After that grave development was achieved in the latter Edo Period and a large number of masterpieces were invented.
Genealogy of Edo Wasao craftsmen of today, is said to date back to Makoto Yahigashi's work which opened in Kotokuji before the Edo Shitaya Inaricho in the Tenmei year, and now, Tokyo is the nation's leading producer. The feature of the Edo Wazao is that the feeling is unique and the rods are made for different kinds of fish, and are lacquered using a bamboo surface.
